Kindness Brings Awareness
May is a month for the awareness of so many different disorders and health problems. Many of these I just happen to have contact with. We need to be aware of each other, consider that everyone has something going on. Whether this is something that they have had to deal with for a long time, and continues to wear them down day to day; or it is something that is new, each of us have a load to carry.
Nothing should stop us from trying to have empathy and fellow feeling for, not only the people we are close to, but also those who we meet in passing in our day to day lives.
At this time of COVID, family, friends and I are trying our best to write letters and cards to as many people as we can to show our love and concern for the people around us.
I have a stand on my front porch, as do many others I know, that has thank-you-cards for the delivery people we rely on so much these days. Doing this we have been able to show appreciation for people and the work they do.
The other day, my daughters and I were in a Starbucks drive-thru and when we went to pay for our order the barista said our order was payed for by the people in the car in front of us. What a wonderful thing it is to have such random kindness shown! Since this happened I have been talking about it and found that many people I know have had this happen to them. Thank you to these anonymous givers, you truly brighten days.
Since this is month of awareness for so many things I feel that we should be looking for the opportunity to show love and concern for all those we know and meet. Try to share when we can, and bring food to ones who need it, have things delivered to their homes. Write and send Thank-you cards, and even share in paying for someone else in a drive-thru line. Having this chance to “Pay it forward” brings joy to everyone involved.
Kindness matters in times like this, so show true compassion to the people around you. It will make your day brighter as well as theirs. When we give, we become happier and when we are happy we can see the world in a different way.
So let’s do our best to be grateful, be happy, and remember sharing brings joy for others and ourselves.
With love,
